Holiday Hunger Aid
Residents at Holiday Retirement communities enjoy a robust calendar of activities and events. Programming is scheduled seven days a week, offering many opportunities to enhance the lives of our residents. Our activity calendars are built around the layers of the Holiday lifestyle, benefiting residents in every aspect of living: physically, intellectually, socially, emotionally, creatively, spiritually, and vocationally.
In July, our Seniors Serving Seniors/Society groups are focused their efforts to end hunger by hosting non-perishable food drives known as Holiday Hunger Aid. Traditionally, many organizations host canned food drives for local food banks around the holiday season. In many cases, people often feel more generous around the holidays, which results in an abundance of food for the food banks between November and December. Studies show that food banks suffer depleted resources during the summer months with July being hit the hardest.
Holiday Retirement residents united with friends, family, prospective residents, and local community contacts in a fundraising effort to assist families in need. After collecting food, residents delivered the collected goods and the Holiday Touch to their local food banks. What a wonderful way for Holiday communities to support food banks across the country!
