Forest Oaks of Spring Hill hosts police appreciation event
Last month, residents of Forest Oaks of Spring Hill, in Spring Hill, Fla., hosted the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office to show their appreciation for all the hard work law enforcement officers do in the community to keep Hernando County residents safe and protected. The event coincided with National Police Week, making it all the more special.
National Police Week coincides with Peace Officers Memorial Day on May 5. The day serves to pay special recognition to law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.
At Forest Oaks’ May event, Hernando County law enforcement officers were greeted with a warm reception of appreciation and celebration, complete with balloon decorations. Residents also donated stuffed bears to the sheriff’s program, which will give the bears to children in need.
“The event was a huge success,” said Raquel Russo, enrichment coordinator of Forest Oaks of Spring Hill. “Attendees went all out and brought so many bears, they overflowed the donation table.”
