Madrona Hills residents showcase special talents in their talent show
Madrona Hills residents are certainly not ones to shy away from the spotlight. In spring 2016, the independent senior living community hosted auditions for a talent show. Interested individuals dug dig deep into their treasured hobbies and pastimes for a special talent to share with their fellow residents.
All the practice and hard work came to fruition in late May, when seniors and community team members took to the stage. Audiences were dazzled with singing performances of songs such as “His Eye is On the Sparrow,” “Bicycle Built for Two” and “Hit Me with Your Best Shot.” Beautiful flute and piano pieces, poetry performances, and a drama skit that left the audience smiling from ear to ear rounded out the afternoon.
To close out the talent show, residents and community staff teamed up for a dramatic lip-sync routine inspired by The Supremes. Charli Denton, enrichment coordinator, performed with two Madrona Hills residents to “Stop! In the Name of Love,” “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” and “Someday We’ll Be Together” as the crowd sang and danced along.
“We had a wonderful emcee, Kay Selnes, one of our residents, and 12 amazing acts,” said Denton. “It was such a fun afternoon, and we’re planning to do another patriotic-themed talent show in honor of Veterans Day later this year.”
