Point Defiance resident goes parasailing
For as long as Linda Groshart, a resident at Point Defiance Village, can remember, she has always wanted to go parasailing. And thanks to the senior living community she calls home, that dream came true July 6.
With the help of Pacific Parasail at The Ram Restaurant in Tacoma, Washington, Linda took to the skies and parasailed for the first time in her life at 73 years old. She spent about 20 minutes soaring 1,000 feet above Commencement Bay with Vanessa Gutierrez, enrichment coordinator at Point Defiance Village, before returning to the docks and her husband, Earl Goshart.
Linda’s parasailing adventure was part of Point Defiance Village's campaign to help residents achieve their "bucket list" dreams.
"We have monthly meetings to encourage residents to conquer their bucket lists," said Gutierrez. "Once they've decided what they want to do, Point Defiance Village will do everything in our power to make it happen. Linda was the first resident to cross an item off her bucket list, but I bet she won’t be the last."
Linda is no stranger to adventure. She has visited Asia, Australia, and Africa, and just returned last month from a trip to Shanghai. Linda plans to cross more adventures off her bucket list, including riding The Great Wheel in Seattle, skydiving, climbing Mount Rainier, and watching the Seattle Mariners win the World Series.
