Royal Palm residents load the bases to cheer on the Charlotte Stone Crabs
For many Americans, baseball is a time-honored summer pastime, and the same is true for many of our Holiday Retirement residents. In July, residents at Royal Palm Retirement Centre in Port Charlotte, Florida, were able to experience firsthand what it is like to be out on the mound before a game.
About a dozen residents took to the field to pump up the crowd for a Charlotte Stone Crabs game with a few cheers led by the community’s enrichment coordinator.
“Our residents at Royal Palm love this local baseball team, so it was quite an honor to cheerlead for the team before a game,” said Beth Vollmer, executive director of Royal Palm Retirement Centre.
The Stone Crabs made it a night to remember with a win over the Brevard County Manatees 12-2. The cheerleading residents cannot wait to make it out for another game and cheer the team on to victory again!
