Zip line at Mall of America proves no match for four Oakwood Hills residents
Four residents from Holiday Retirement at Oakwood Hills in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, recently traveled together to the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota. The group, led by 93-year-old Peggy Gruner, wasn’t there for shops and food courts, but to cross off one of Peggy’s lifelong bucket list items—zip lining.
Peggy and the other Oakwood Hills residents, ranging in age from 77 to 93, stopped by Nickelodeon Universe November 9 to face their fears and zip line across the atrium at the largest mall in the United States.

Brave as the group may have been, there were still a few nervous jitters before the big moment. “We may be scared spitless, but that’s okay,” said Peggy moments before zooming off the platform and into the air. Watch the full video here.
For Peggy and her fellow Oakwood Hills neighbors, taking to the skies inside the Mall of America was just another creative way they stay young at heart. “I just can’t tell you how wonderful it’s been,” said Peggy. “I would kind of like to do it again!”
And do it again she did! After one more zip line across the atrium, Peggy and her friends returned back to Oakwood Hills with some stories to tell and the lingering adrenaline rush to prove it.
