San Antonio is Texas’ second largest city, and one of the state’s most desirable cities in which to retire. A tourist’s dream, San Antonio is one of the United States’ fastest-growing cities and boasts a population of just over one million.
San Antonio is host to a plethora of sites and activities. The historic and infamous Alamo mission could be the most well-known and is certainly the most-visited attraction. Of course, it competes with the city’s beautiful River Walk as well as amusement parks SeaWorld and Six Flags. Still, after these popular attractions, there are many more places to visit.
For instance, there’s the Cathedral of San Fernando, The Majestic Theatre, and Menger Hotel. For the artists at heart, try the McNay Art Museum or San Antonio Museum of Art. Nature lovers will treasure the San Antonio Zoo and Japanese Tea Gardens. Museum aficionados will appreciate the Witte Museum, Texas Rangers Museum, and Buckhorn Museum.
If you’re a sports fan, you probably already know that San Antonio is host to the NBA’s talented Spurs. The city also features sports teams in women’s basketball, hockey, baseball, soccer, and arena football. San Antonio is also considered a bicycle-friendly environment.
The weather can’t be beat if you’re a fan of the heat. The hot summers, averaging 95 degrees in July and August, yield to warm winters, springs, and falls. For seniors who despise the cold, San Antonio offers the perfect climate.
