Halloween at Holiday Retirement Oakwood Hills
When we wander our outside walking paths, skittish squirrels leap through the spruce, oak, birch and maple trees. The Deciduous trees have already transitioned into amber and gold.
On the steep hillside a friend nurtured wild flowers she planted from seeds.
Hungry birds hover around full feeders. Two raised table gardens treated us to herbs and veggies. We savor special sunsets that slowly slip away.
Inside our home, pumpkins, scarecrows, mums and garlands are decorator delights by manager Becky and enrichment coordinator Kim, who also surprised us with an activity room "do-over.” Hues of mustard, green and cranberry create a pleasant place for groups gathered for exercises, games, programs and family celebrations.
It’s in this recently made-over activity room that we hoot and holler for our "parlor baseball" teams, as well as the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers and Milwaukee Brewers.
At our annual Halloween party, residents in hobo, ghost and witch costumes will parade for judging.
Trick or Treat, anyone?
