Three easy yoga movements for spring renewal
Spring is the season of growth, and a "can-do" attitude is the seed of all human prosperity. Yoga says that emotional fulfillment results from cultivating a can-do attitude. To do so, we must care for our personal garden in three ways: by composing a full heart, making daily goals and aspirations and establishing well-rooted determination.
Here are three yoga practices that will put you on the path to cultivating your can-do attitude this spring and throughout the year:
The composure gesture
Hold your palms together close to your heart.
"Hold your attention" with care and admiration. Appreciating your uniqueness begets a full heart.
Closing your eyes and resting your tongue on the upper soft palate, "lasso your attention" by hearing out of the right ear, far behind, around to the left and then in front. Draw this full circle of sound down to your heart. A silent tongue and a full heart inspire a warm smile.
The flower gesture
Now, let your pointer, middle and ring fingertips come apart like a spring blossom.
Feel your heart grow through the arms and fingers like a vine climbing toward the sun.
Just like a vine blooms with vigor, let your dreams and aspirations flourish.
Make a goal for the day!
The root gesture
Then, make a fist with your right hand at throat height and another fist with your left hand at belly height.
Like a sponge stays soft while being squeezed, squeeze your fists as firmly as you can while feeling the rest of your body relax and you put your mind at ease.
"Wring out" all your life problems and fill the void with determination.
All spring blossoms are an outcome of well-established roots. Set down your own roots by "weeding out" your worries and giving "nourishment" to your ambitions.
Finally, form the composure gesture again and keep this can-do attitude with you throughout the day.
