A message from the President & CEO
Last week I attended the ALFA conference, a gathering of senior living executives in Phoenix. While there, I had the privilege to watch one of our very own Holiday associates be honored for her deep commitment to seniors. Corry Roberts, a housekeeper at The Inn at Cass Lake in Waterford, Michigan, was a recipient of the 2014 ALFA Hero Award for her dedication and passion to serving seniors and for embracing the resident-centered philosophy of senior living.
Corry was nominated by her manager, Geoffrey Owen, because “her attitude and her commitment to our community exemplify the Holiday Touch.” As I read Geoffrey’s comments in the nomination form, it was easy to see a common thread of commitment to the community, a caring for others, and a respect for senior residents. Corry goes beyond what’s expected of her with a positive attitude and with a focus of creating a comfortable and enjoyable lifestyle for all of the community’s residents.
Corry’s name badge reads “specialist,” but anyone who works with her will tell you the title doesn’t come close to identifying all of the things Corry does for the community: she oversees housekeeping, drives the bus, helps with tours, assists the management team, and helps out wherever she is needed, whether it’s in the kitchen or in the activities room.
I want to personally recognize Corry, and thank her for epitomizing the Holiday Touch. Corry was recognized for both her personal commitment and for symbolizing the thousands of Holiday associates who wake up each morning to provide excellent service to our residents and clean, safe, and fun communities. Holiday associates are heroes every day, and I’m so proud of what you do. Every day, you make a difference. Thank you!
