Spring Oaks enrichment coordinator receives Human Kindness Award
Karen Whittingstall has served in various roles at Spring Oaks in Brooksville, Florida, since she started working at the senior living community in August 2013. No matter what her role though, Karen always makes an extra effort to get to know the residents and loves to learn new things from them.
Karen’s never-ending, caring spirit is quickly recognized by visitors to the senior living community. In fact, it was Dr. Yvonne Nelson, whose sorority sister lives at Spring Oaks, who took notice of Karen’s kindness and generosity for each of the residents during a recent birthday celebration.
Dr. Nelson, vice president of the Democratic Women’s Club of Hernando County, knew Karen’s contributions to Spring Oaks needed to be recognized at the Club’s annual awards ceremony. Each year, the Club nominates members of the community for an exceptional characteristic, and this year it was caring and human kindness.
On Saturday, March 12, Karen was honored for her Human Kindness at Silverthorn Country Club, where, alongside Dr. Nelson’s kind words, she received a certificate, pin, and flowers.
Congratulations, Karen, and thanks for all that you do! Holiday Retirement is fortunate to have you at Spring Oaks.
