Forest Pines hosts military appreciation concert
Forest Pines is just 10 minutes from Fort Jackson, an active military base located in Columbia, South Carolina. The close proximity provides residents of the independent senior living community with several opportunities to reinforce their commitment to veterans.
Their Wall of Honor is being reconstructed this year, for example, and is just one of several ways the residents honor veterans. Discover more ways Forest Pines residents connect with local veterans and community members.
On June 24, Forest Pines hosted a Military Appreciation Concert. Active service members in the Columbia area were honored with residents' gratitude and a performance from the 63-piece 282nd Army Band, Fort Jackson Special Troops Battalion (FJ STB).
Dozens of members of the 282nd Army Band regaled residents in the retirement community's atrium with traditional Army songs, as
well as cherished melodies from residents' younger years.
"Our residents enjoy spending time with their neighbors, especially if it is while listening to some fun, lively music, which is why we make an effort
to have live music in the community whenever possible," said Paul Nichols, community manager at Forest Pines.
