Hidden Lakes toasts five super seniors over the age of 100
“It’s pretty unusual to have this many centenarians all living in one place,” said Joyce Gilbert, enrichment coordinator for Hidden Lakes. “And we have a few more residents that are going to celebrate their 100th birthdays this year. It’s such a joyful and exciting occasion to see our seniors reaching this milestone birthday.”

The honorees of the centenarian celebration included Red Olin, 105, Jerry Perry, 102, Bertha Erby, Betty Wilson and Nadine Girod, each 100. Born during or before 1917, these five remarkable individuals have lived through some of the most amazing events in world history such as women’s suffrage, World War II and the moon landing. These 100-year-olds spoke with a local TV station, KGW-TV, to reveal their secrets to longevity.
“I’m not sure how I got so lucky to still be alive at this age,” said Red Olin, the oldest resident of the senior living community at 105 years old. “I’m still happy and still smiling after all these years, so maybe that has something to do with it.”
