Pearl Crossing residents kick off fall cleaning with fundraiser
Proceeds provide school supplies to local children in need
In August, residents of Pearl Crossing in Strongsville, Ohio, hosted a garage sale fundraiser. Residents were able to do an end-of-summer cleaning of the independent senior living community and give their unused items a better home. Proceeds from the sale were then used to purchase school supplies for local children in need.
Raising a total of $240 from the sales, Pearl Crossing residents visited their local Walmart to pick up paper, markers, crayons, colored pencils, pens, and other art supplies to donate to the Cleveland Kids in Need Resource Center. The center is a local, independent nonprofit that helps to ensure every child is prepared to learn and succeed by providing free school supplies to teachers of the students who are most in need.
“The garage sale was such a wonderful day filled with the spirit of giving,” said Tanya Reno, enrichment coordinator for Pearl Crossing. “All unused or under appreciated items were given a new, loving home and an abundance of school supplies were donated for kids in need gearing up for a fresh start and new school year.”
Cheers to Pearl Crossing residents for such a commendable effort!
