Super Bowl fever sweeps Holiday Retirement communities around the country
Only two teams get to play in the big game, but whether it’s the sport, the food, the halftime show or the company, this gridiron showdown never fails to catch the attention of Americans everywhere. The residents of Holiday Retirement communities are no exception. From coast-to-coast, friends and neighbors got together to watch the Philadelphia Eagles take on the New England Patriots.
Roy and Sue Beard of Holiday Retirement’s Cherry Laurel in Tallahassee, Florida brought a lot of enthusiasm to a community watch party. As Eagles fans, the duo had plenty to cheer for, but even if things hadn’t gone their way, a spread that included tailgating favorites like hot dogs and chili would have made for a fun afternoon.
The outcome of the game didn’t prove so favorable for Marilyn Ham and her friends at Holiday Retirement’s Birch Heights in Derry, New Hampshire. However, Marilyn’s enthusiasm was second to none. She came to the party dressed to impress in a Rob Gronkowski jersey and sporting a horn. Even though the Patriots weren’t able to take home the Lombardi trophy, the residents and staff at Birch Heights had a blast at their celebration. General Manager Christina Abreu reports that the whole community was still abuzz with how fun the party was come Monday morning.
Meanwhile, the residents of Holiday Retirement’s Cedar Woods in Branford, Connecticut, got into the big game spirit with wings. More than a dozen of the community’s dedicated sports fans, including Maria Diorio, Doreen Pierson and Thomas Saitta got together to cheer on the teams and take in the commercials.
From the sports lovers to those who just watch for the commercials, we’re glad to mark special days with residents at communities throughout the country.
