For many, the holidays are a time to reflect on traditions that have been handed down through generations. At Holiday, those family traditions come alive as they’re shared with friends, old and new. Every Holiday community is abuzz this time of year with fun seasonal activities, many of which are based on their residents’ beloved family customs.

Mickie, a resident of Eagle Crest in Myrtle Beach, S.C. invited her daughter to make one of their family’s favorite holiday recipes, a nut roll, with her fellow residents.
Each year, Maple Downs in Fayetteville, NY hosts a Hanukkah celebration, which brings back warm memories for Bette. “When my two sons were young, it was cute to watch their faces when the candle lighting ceremony began. Their eyes seemed enlarged; their smiles were ever so big. When Hanukkah arrives each year, I remember the good times I had with my family.
Betty, a resident of Eastdale Estates in Montgomery, Ala. is quite the expert at arts and crafts. Recently, she started making her own one-of-a-kind Kwanzaa cards to share with friends and family!
Mary Alice enjoys sharing her Christmas passion, nativity sets, with Maple Suites’ residents. “My favorite holiday tradition developed after my husband and I retired to Mexico. I saw a nativity scene at a street market that was made by a Huichol Indian craftsman, with tiny beads on a terra cotta base. My passion grew and I started buying them for myself. At its peak, my collection boasted 242 sets!
Residents of Holiday at the Atrium in Glenville, N.Y. tap into their inner child this time each year with a joint gingerbread house making session. Yum!
Rosemary, a resident at Las Palmas in Palm Coast, Fla. looks forward to visiting Santa every year and is proof that you’re never too old to sit on Santa’s lap!
