Seniors today aren't sitting idly by; they are engaging with friends, enjoying their favorite hobbies, staying active in their communities, and even finding love. That’s right, love! The growing number of senior couples who are falling in love all over again is truly inspiring; no matter what day of the year it is.
Senior romance is proving to be a heartwarming trend in our aging society. At Holiday Retirement, we’re thrilled every time we learn our residents are getting a second chance at love. Our communities are filled with some amazing, caring, and compassionate seniors, so it’s no surprise they’re finding each other.
In addition to the stories highlighted in our press release, here are a few more of our favorite resident love stories for you to enjoy. It really is never too late to fall in love!
Beverly & John – Highland Estates
Beverly first caught John’s eye when she modeled in Highland Estates’ senior fashion show. Beverly was, in turn, wooed by John’s sincere smile and dedication to his church. The two started taking daytrips together, and their affection for one another grew with each long drive around the city of Cedar Park. Beverly and John have now been together for a year and are going strong!
John & Fran - Edgewood Downs
John and Fran each have their own spin on how they met, but they both agree they never expected their love to develop like it did. The couple met shortly after Fran moved to Edgewood Downs last February. John was talking with a friend while waiting for the elevator. When the doors opened, Fran stepped out and bluntly said, “My name’s Fran, what’s yours?”
Fran was having trouble with her new wheelchair, so John pushed her back to her apartment. Fran remembers the moment fondly and says with a grin, “He’s been pushing me ever since!”
Judy & Asher - Edgewood Downs
Asher and Judy will celebrate their one-year couple’s anniversary this Valentine’s Day. The couple met when Asher introduced himself to Judy shortly after she moved to Edgewood Downs. Judy never expected to meet her sweetheart at Edgewood Downs and Asher agreed, “We truly care about each other and it kept growing. It was certainly a surprise to me that I found someone here. I wasn’t looking for it.”
Phil & Nina - Lakeview Park
Phil and Nina moved into Lakeview Park just weeks apart from each other and became fast friends. The two realized they enjoyed a lot of the same activities and started spending more time together. A romance soon blossomed – and now wedding bells are ringing! The couple decided to get married at Lakeview Park and their wedding is scheduled for April 2015. Congratulations, Phil and Nina!
Ted & Pat - Park Plaza
Ted and Pat Keen first met at Park Plaza in 2010. The two have since been crowned Park Plaza’s “King and Queen of Hearts” and are spotted at a lot of community events. They were married at Park Plaza in 2013. The wedding, which had almost 150 guests, was complete with a cake made by a fellow resident who is a retired pastry chef. Residents of Park Plaza still remember the wedding day fondly. Congratulations to Ted and Pat!
