Love and Romance Blossom at Holiday Retirement
Love is such a universal human condition, that often lies at the center of great works of art, stories and song. Perhaps every great writer has put pen to paper on the subject, but few have captured the irreplaceable delight of true, lasting love quite so well as Victor Hugo. Hugo wrote that “the greatest happiness of life is the conviction that we are loved; loved for ourselves, or rather, loved in spite of ourselves.”
Newlyweds Bob and Judy Bradley are living proof of Hugo’s words — the pair dedicated the first few months of their marriage to finding a way to make their lifestyles mesh, and they’re stronger and happier for it. “It’s sounds easy,” Judy said, “but, believe me it’s not. Oh, but it is so worth it. We not only got closer and closer, but just love each day together.”
Bob and Judy met at Holiday Retirement’s Vineyard Place, where they currently reside together, back in August 2016. It didn’t take long for the pair to recognize a mutual attraction and began going everywhere together. Judy says their memories of their earliest days together at restaurants, beaches, casinos and riverboat rides are wonderful to look back on. “They were so fun, with such fun people.”
The lovebirds married in late November 2016 and set about joining their lives. Judy recalls that the first few months were truly challenging, but that they got through by “facing each day with grit and love.” She says that compromise was critical to bringing them to the extraordinarily strong bond they enjoy today. “We have left each other with our own religions and family relationships,” she said. They’ve found compromise in their hobbies as well, Judy said. “He is not a Denver Broncos fan, he is a Tennessee Titans fan — Oh well!!”
Bob and Judy now happily spend their days together enjoying their pets Crawford (a bird) and Luna (a dog), as well as each other’s company and support. “We both believe in the power of prayer, and I am very privileged to be with Bob as he goes through his battle with cancer … He is so brave… and still takes very good care of me. I love him for everything.”
It’s been a little over a year since their wedding and Bob and Judy are more connected and in love than ever before. We want to share our continued well wishes for the happy couple — and the many other couples just like Bob and Judy that call Holiday Retirement home.
