Holiday Residents Take Steps to Complete Goals for 2018
With 2018 underway, many residents at Holiday Retirement communities are updating their bucket lists and mapping out plans to make progress. We caught up with a couple of them to hear about the plans they’ve made to start the new year.
Marsha Blyth, a resident at Holiday Retirement’s Copley Place, has her sights set on achieving two personal milestones. First, she wants to prioritize her memories and get all of her photos organized and placed into albums. Second, Marsha wants to enhance her health and strength. She’s working toward a goal of getting around with a cane instead of a walker. We’re all cheering you on, Marsha!
While Marsha’s working on her close-to-home goals, Mary Alice Sargent of Holiday Retirement’s Maple Suites is one trip away from completing her bucket list goal of visiting all 50 states. Mary Alice, 83, has been traveling since she was a child. Her father was a dentist and joined the military during WWII to provide dental care to the troops. The nature of this work meant he was often quite a distance from his family; however, the family hit the road to visit him whenever possible. Mary Alice recalled trips from Iowa to Kentucky and out to Washington state.
Later, during her college years, she’d travel from the Midwest to the Northeast and check off states all along the way. Fast forward to May 2017, when Mary Alice joined her daughter and granddaughter for a trip to her 49th state, Hawaii. This year looks to be the year she’ll finish her quest, as Mary Alice already has plans in motion to make her way to Alaska, the final state on her list, in 2018. We’re all wishing you happy and safe travels, Mary Alice!
Marsha and Mary Alice aren’t alone in their ambitions or actions — we’re proud to help all of our residents make the most of their retirement years and achieve their dream.
