Tom and Diane Tucker
Online Dating Leads to True Love for Walnut Woods Residents
Tom and Diane Tucker moved into Holiday Retirement’s Walnut Woods in December 2017, but the happy couple didn’t take the most traditional path to their new home. Tom and Diane met in 2016 on FriendFinder, an online dating app.
In a fateful coincidence, Diane and Tom lost their spouses a few days apart, and both eventually decided it was time to find a new companion. Tom found the app on his own, but Diane learned about it from a family member, who helped her make a profile.
Neither Tom nor Diane thought marriage was on the horizon, but after dating for a year, the pair tied the knot. Diane, 71, said her mind-shift was simple: She found love again. Tom, at 78, is a retired construction worker and an incorrigible flirt. When asked why he wanted to get married, he quipped that it was because he was “hot for her body.” Both have children from their previous marriages, and the whole family is delighted that they found each other.
Tom and Diane believe that if it weren’t for online dating, they wouldn’t have found each other. And that’s prompted the Tuckers to adopt a wise and practical mantra: “Don’t be afraid to try something. If it doesn’t work out, at least you tried,” they said.
The newlyweds shared an apartment before moving to Walnut Woods. Since getting hitched, they’ve also adopted a cat named Bob, affectionately termed Bobbles by Diane.
Holiday Retirement communities are filled with love stories like Tom and Diane’s. Some romances are decades-long, and others are brand new – but all of them are unique.
