Philadelphia PA Senior Living
Many aren’t shocked to learn that Philadelphia is the largest city in the state of Pennsylvania, but often people are surprised to learn that it’s the second largest city on the entire East Coast. Referred to as the “City of Brotherly Love” or “Philly” for short, Philadelphia is a rich blend of history, arts and culture.
If it’s culture you’re after, start with a hot cheesesteak or soft pretzel, two foods synonymous with Philadelphia. And be sure to top it off with some water ice. Once you’re done sampling the local cuisine, you’ll be ready to explore the various sites and attractions the city has to offer. For the art and music lover, there’s a variety of venues from which to choose. You could start with the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts or Rodin Museum. Or you could just head straight to the one of the largest museums in the U.S., the Philadelphia Museum of Art, which was also featured in the 1976 film “Rocky” starring Sylvester Stallone. But if you’d rather appreciate art while out and about, you can tour the city and literally see thousands of works including sculptures, murals, modern art and more.
If music and theatre is more your taste, try catching a show at the Kimmel Center for Performing Arts, the Academy of Music, the Wilma Theatre or Philadelphia Theatre Company. In addition to more traditional forms of performing art, Philadelphia is also considered an important hub for popular music.
Philadelphia also boasts a variety of professional sports teams including the NHL’s Flyers, MLB’s Phillies, NFL’s Eagles, and NBA’s 76ers. Depending on how big of a sports fan you are, you could literally attend games year-round.
And as you’re enjoying the sites and spectacles of Philly, let one of our Holiday Retirement communities be your home base. We’re conveniently located, and we’ll be happy to show you around when you stop in!
