Virginia Beach VA Senior Living
Virginia Beach, located at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay, offers sun, sand and fun. Listed in the Guinness Book of Records as having the longest pleasure beach in the world, Virginia Beach offers visitors and residents a myriad of activities.
Beach sports are a huge draw in the summer with beach soccer, volleyball games and sand-building contests. Virginia Beach hosts the East Coast Surfing Championship and the North American Sand Soccer Championships every year.
But you don’t have to play to enjoy the fun! You can enjoy the annual Neptune Festival Air Show or the American Music Festival held on the Oceanfront and city areas.
If the beach isn’t your thing, this East Coast city has many other activities to enjoy.
As one of the first areas populated by England colonists, you can find historical references all over the city. The many museums in the area focus on the beginnings of this city, the magnificent beauty of the ocean and marine life and the art it inspires. Psychic Edgar Cayce thought so when he moved here to begin his research facility. Atlantic University, opened by Cayce, is a draw for many followers and offers classes and treatments. The building is a lovely example of traditional beach architecture.
Plan a tour of one of the several significant U.S. military bases reside in the area. The U.S. Naval Air Station Oceana and Training Support is part of the country’s Atlantic Fleet along with the Norfolk Navy Base and Naval Amphibious Base.
Whatever you enjoy doing, you’ll find plenty to do in Virginia Beach, including visiting one of our Holiday Retirement communities.
