4 Trips to Take with Holiday Retirement's Travel and Stay Program
A suite of your very own. Three delicious and nutritious meals a day. A ride when you need to get somewhere. Utilities, laundry facilities and housekeeping. A calendar chock full of fun activities. Most community members at Holiday Retirement know all these things are included in their regular rent. But did you know living at Holiday Retirement also gets you access to a free place to stay when you travel?
Holiday Retirement’s Travel and Stay Program lets residents stay up to seven consecutive days for free or for a small fee at any Holiday Retirement community! With more than 300 communities in 43 states, there are plenty of places to take advantage of this fantastic benefit.
When can community members use the Travel and Stay Program? Anytime they travel! If you’re looking for ways to take advantage of the program, these four trip types might give you inspiration:
1. A Change of Scenery
You love your current community. Your yoga class, friends, favorite local restaurant – they’re all wonderful. But sometimes, a change of scenery can be refreshing, whether it’s to get a dose of sun in winter, escape the heat to watch the leaves change in crisp fall air, or trade a mountain view for one with an ocean. Booking a short stay at another community can help you shake up your routine.
2. Quality Time with the People You Love
Far from your family and friends? The Travel and Stay Program can give you an easy way to see them. You could use the free stay to break up a road trip to see your sister. If you want to visit a friend who has a small house or apartment that can’t accommodate guests, find out if there is a nearby Holiday Retirement community where you can stay instead. Having a free room to escape to also is a great option if you are visiting family or friends and just need a break!
3. Special Occasions
If you have a school or family reunion to attend or perhaps a birthday or anniversary to celebrate, check if there is a Holiday Retirement community nearby. Staying in a community may be more comfortable and is certainly cheaper than staying at a hotel..
4. Adventure for Adventure's Sake
Every Holiday Retirement community has an array of activities that will appeal to all types of interests. Check your local events calendar for activities like bean bag baseball, happy hour and chair yoga. Or try out groups like the Walking Club, Gardening Club or Adventure Travel Club.
No matter what you do, we’re sure you’ll soon settle in and find a group of friends at Holiday Retirement that fits your unique tastes, style and personality!
Our Community Member's Story
Holiday Retirement’s Indigo Pines resident Don Blair knows all about the Travel and Stay Program. He’s stayed in nearly 40 communities in the four years he’s been part of the Holiday Retirement family.
Don has always been an avid traveler. In his younger days, he was a true globetrotter, visiting countries all over the world, including China and South Africa. At 89 years of age, Don is still on the go. He drives all around the East Coast visiting his brothers, children and old friends. A museum aficionado, Don also is keen to explore a local exhibit.
During his travels, Don has stayed in communities in Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. Whew!
Don admits it doesn’t take much to keep him happy. He’s fond of saying, “I only need three hots and a cot.” But the Travel and Stay Program offers much more than a cot. The free stay includes a suite with a queen-size bed and access to all the community’s amenities.
According to Don, there are two other benefits to staying at a Holiday Retirement community while traveling: the comfort of staying in a familiar place and the warm welcome he receives from local residents and staff. “They treat me like family,” he says.
If you’re inspired by Don’s penchant for travel, why not book a room for your next trip? It’s easy! Just ask your resident experience coordinator for assistance in making arrangements.
