Bring a bit of cheer to your holiday celebrations with live music
What’s your favorite holiday tune? When was the last time you heard it performed live? Unless caroling is popular in your neighborhood, it may have been a while. So this year, change things up and catch the spirit of the season with friends and family by taking in a holiday concert.
While some performances can come at a premium, a bit of digging will turn up any number of local options for live performances that your wallet will love as much as your ears. Try these sources to find the perfect venue for an outing with family and friends.
Check the papers
Local daily and weekly newspapers will often feature event calendars for the coming weekend or month and are a great resource for comparing multiple options at a glance. You’ll get venue, timing and cost information all in one place. And because it’s 2017, you’re likely to be able to find this information with a few clicks if you’re not a subscriber to the print edition.
If you’re active on Facebook, you can visit the Events page and peruse events happening near you and popular among your friends list. It’s possible someone you know has already found an event that will tickle your fancy. Additionally, you can review upcoming events on this same page.
Connect with the community
If you belong to a local group or church or have children or grandchildren at a local school, set aside a few minutes to check out the community postings. Many local groups will put on free or low-cost holiday concerts each and every year.
Make your own
It might not have the production value of an official performance, but an impromptu sing-along around the fire — or a caroling excursion for the ambitious — will instill plenty of fun and probably a few laughs as you revisit favorite tunes.
We hope your holiday season is filled with music — and fun!
