Maggie rides a zip line
What’s the most daring thing you’ve ever done? Chances are, Maggie has you beat. The 79-year-old recently took a family vacation last summer to Hawaii and went zip lining!
Maggie, who has been a resident of Holiday Retirement's The Chateau in McKinney, Texas for the past five years, took advantage of Holiday Retirement's travel program and spent some time at at the Hawaii Kai Holiday Retirement community in Hawaii with her daughter, niece, and grandchildren. Aside from her fond memories of time spent with her family, the crystal blue waters, and warm tropical breezes, Maggie also fondly remembers her bravery. “I’m glad I did it,” she shared with a laugh. “When I suggested going zip lining my daughter and niece said ‘are you sure you wanna do that?’ and I said ‘well we gotta do somethin!’”
And with that she was gone, flying through the air, hanging on tight, and having the ride of her life. “The ride itself wasn’t too scary,” said Maggie. “Stopping was the scary part!”
After reflecting on the vacation and her willingness to try something new and adventurous, Maggie had one piece of advice for her fellow senior living residents at Holiday Retirement. “You have to make an effort to stay active and get involved. These things don’t land in your lap. You need to be willing to get out there and try.”
